Languages, stated specifically rather than vaguely: Isabela and Luciana speak basic English. Laís speaks intermediate English with some Spanish. The others speak Portuguese. Rachel arranges everything in English, Spanish or Portuguese, so nothing depends on your Portuguese.

We would rather tell you that something does not fit than promise it and have you watch the clock. And if your flight is in the middle of the night, read the hotel's own page first: the shuttles here each have their own timetable, and two of them stop running for part of the night.

A few things worth knowing, taken from the airport's own published information rather than from a booking site. Currency exchange is Banco Safra, open around the clock at nine points across the terminals. Left luggage is Malex: at Terminal 2 on the western arrivals curb, open all night, and at Terminal 3 from seven in the morning until seven in the evening. Wi-Fi is .GRU WIFI, free for four hours split into two two-hour sessions. Lost property is handled at Terminal 3 on the departures floor between eight and six, by e-mail only — there is no counter to walk up to.
For the city, the train is the interesting option: the CPTM line connects Guarulhos to São Paulo, and the AeroGRU people mover links the terminals to the station when it is running. Take it if it is running; the bus is the one you can count on. The Aerobus serves Avenida Paulista and the Tietê coach station, and Uber, 99 and inDrive all pick up from the designated bays on the arrivals floor.

My layover is long and I have no hotel room. Is there anywhere to go?
Yes. In Brazil the answer is a motel, which is not what the word means elsewhere. A Brazilian motel is a private hotel built for couples: the car goes into a garage that belongs to the room, the room is taken for a period of hours rather than for a night, and you never cross a lobby. Several sit within a short drive of GRU, on the highways that pass the airport.
Carry photo identification, because without it you are not admitted. A Brazilian motel lets nobody in without a photo document: a passport is accepted, and for anyone Brazilian an identity card or a driver's license is accepted too. She is asked for hers in the same way, which is how you know who is arriving.
