The center is the hinge. It is the part of Guarulhos that connects to everywhere else — buses to the airport, the Aerobus to Avenida Paulista and the Tietê coach station, rail into São Paulo — and that geography is why it is the easiest address in the city to arrange at short notice. The center of Guarulhos can get congested. But book ahead and your companion arrives on time, whichever hotel you are in.
It is also the one district where an evening does not have to happen entirely indoors. You are in a city of a million and a half people, denser and taller than most visitors expect, with restaurants, bars and a public park inside walking distance of the central hotels. If you would rather the evening started at a table than upstairs, say so when you write and Rachel will arrange it that way. None of the airport hotels can offer that.
Languages, plainly: Isabela and Luciana speak basic English, Laís speaks intermediate English with some Spanish, the others speak Portuguese. Rachel works in English, Spanish and Portuguese and settles everything before anyone sets off.

What is different here is the option of starting outside. A table first, then upstairs, is a normal evening in the center and an impossible one beside the runway. It also means the arrival draws no attention at all: the central hotels sit on ordinary city streets where people come and go all evening, rather than on a service road where the only reason to be there is the hotel.

The Rodovia Hélio Smidt connects it directly to the airport, and EMTU runs a direct bus between the two. The Aerobus serves Avenida Paulista and the Tietê coach station, and the rail line into São Paulo makes the center the sensible base if you are staying more than one night and would rather not pay for a car each way.
We do not publish journey times here. Between the center and the terminals the drive crosses the city rather than skirting it, so the figure depends entirely on the hour you travel, and the published numbers contradict one another.
Can an escort meet me at a hotel in central Guarulhos?

Can the evening start at a restaurant rather than at the hotel?
Yes, and the center is the only part of Guarulhos where that is practical — there are restaurants within walking distance of the central hotels. Say so when you write and Rachel will arrange it that way.
How do I get from central Guarulhos to GRU airport?
EMTU runs a direct bus between the center and the airport, and Uber, 99 and inDrive all serve the area. We do not quote a journey time because the drive crosses the city and the published figures disagree with one another.
